The 21st International Conference on Defects in Insulating Materials (ICDIM) will take place in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, in 2024. The conference is focused on research related to defects in insulators and non-metallic materials. Astana is a progressive and ambitious city and serves as the administrative, economic, educational, and cultural center of the country.

ICDIM 2024 is the 21st edition of a series of conferences that began in 1956 in Argonne, USA, with the meeting "Color Centers in Alkali Halides". The ICDIM and EURODIM conferences alternate every four years, making it one of the most prominent and long-running international forums on the science and technology of defect-related phenomena in insulators.

L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, along with other institutes and universities in Kazakhstan, will organize ICDIM 2024, with support from sponsors.
